About HighlightMyCode

Well there's not much to say... Often I found myself wanting to paste a quick code snippet on my blog or on one of my sites and I didn't want to install a full syntax highlighting script just for that task so I decided to provide a free service that would do just that. Right now it's hosted on a cheap web host, if I see that people are using the service and performance suffers, I will move it to a better, bigger server.

Isn't this just a PasteBin?

Well, you could say it IS a Pastebin, but with an emphasis on syntax highlighting. Hence why I added the concept of themes. If people start sending some new themes, it'll kick ass! Also, I never claimed I invented anything with this site! You want to know why I did it? Because I CAN!... Kidding, seriously, I liked the idea, and I knew it would be useful, at least to me, so here it is!

I have a suggestion

I'll be glad to hear it! Just mail it here: suggestion@highlightmycode.com

Will my stuff get deleted?

It won't. As long as I see that some snippets are still active or displayed on some sites, they will remain in the database.

Will I ever get a "Too many MySQL connection" error instead of my snippet?

No, it won't happen, when you submit a new snippet, a real javascript file is created. So the small javascript snippet you are linking to isn't dynamically generated from a database, it's a simple text file. Therefore, you will never get a MySQL error or anything like that.

So it's really free right?

Absolutely. If, however, you would like to remove the "Highliting by: HighlightMyCode" link in your snippets, you can make a donation of any amount (yes, even 1$) and I will set you up so you don't have the link in your snippets...

And who the *#$! are you?

My name is Jean-Nicolas Jolivet, I'm a web-developper from Montreal, Canada. I'm mostly interested in Javascript, PHP and I like to mess with Rails too in my free time. You can see some of my stuff here: at Silverscripting or you can visit my blog here where I post about most of my projects (should be more up to date than SilverScripting.com)
